Summons and Subpoenas
Before a case can go to trial the petitioner or the plaintiff, must submit the appropriate summons form(s) to the court and serve the summons on the defendant. A summons details the type of claim brought against the defendant along with a timeline for response and actions required. Should your case require witness testimony you may choose to file and issue a subpoena. A subpoena can be filed by either the attorney of the plaintiff or defendant in an effort to support their case. Ultimately, a subpoena orders a person to give testimony regarding the case and can lead to an issuance of a warrant for their arrest if they fail to appear.
